"The Present"
Everyone likes to receive a present, including me. I have had twenty and half years of life on earth, which is neither too long nor too short. And during these years, I’ve received many presents from different people everywhere. However, one out of all of them has been the most precious. Guess which one? –--It’s the present of "the Present".
Everyone has his or her own past, present and future. Some people live in the past, others in the present, and yet others live in the future. I’ve heard so many stories of people who lived in the past and their lives ended in tragedy. And many others, mostly young people live as daydreamers of the future.
As for me, I cannot deny that sometimes I've tried to escape the present reality by remembering the past glorious days or dreaming of a better future. But it‘s been said that, “Life is like a book, lived one chapter at a time.” What a true statement!
Right now, I’m writing a new chapter. I can neither go back to the past pages nor skip to the future pages. I'm here now doing what has to be done in the present. Even though I have so many dreams to fulfill in the future, I don’t want to be a daydreamer at all. I've discovered that the past and present experiences are altogether equipment for a better future. For example, I want to be a missionary in the future and language is the most important skill for successful missionary work. Presently, I am here taking this language training stemming from what I’ve learned in the past and linking to my future dream. So, I concentrate on what I'm doing now with a decision to enjoy the gift of "the present" with contentment and excitement.
"The Present" is a present from God. Living satisfied in the present has a way of making us productive for a life time.
I appreciate this precious present and will do my best to write every page of my life's book one day at a time
What about you?
